When LG revealed the next installment of its quirky StanbyME line of portable TVs earlier this month, we knew it would be releasing soon, just not how soon. Now that it’s available, we also know that the StanbyME 2 runs for $1,299.99, a solid $300 more than the original model. The new addition does feature several upgrades over its predecessor, including 2,560 x 1,440 resolution instead of 1080p, additional ports including USB-C, and, perhaps most importantly, more applications since it can be detached from its stand.

The Verge was able to get some hands-on time with the new TV, and in the video above, you can see some of the new use-cases of the StanbyME 2. Some of LG’s examples include a rather large music player, a portable display for education environments, and even a piece of digital signage thanks to the StanbyME 2’s included hanging strap.

LG is continuing its quirky StanbyME line of portable TVs with the StanbyME2. Following the stand-mounted original model and the carrying-case StanbyME Go, the StanbyME 2 follows the form-factor of the first edition, except this time the touch-screen TV can be removed from the stand with a single click. This gives the new model the versatility of a 27-inch TV that can be used as a tablet or mounted on the wall in either landscape or portrait mode.

In addition to functionality, LG has upgraded the specs with 2,560 x 1,440 resolution (up from the original’s 1080p) with a 60 Hz refresh rate, and support for Dolby Vision. Integrated speakers support Dolby Audio and virtual 9.1.2 AI-enhanced surround sound. In addition to charging on its stand, the StanbyME 2 features a USB-C port for charging when on the go. US pricing has yet to be revealed, though availability is expected within the next month.
