Milab makes its return

The Swedish microphone icon is back in full production after filing for bankruptcy last year

Swedish microphone manufacturer Milab, founded over 85 years ago, is officially back after filing for bankruptcy last August last year. The company has confirmed that production is back and full swing, and the first microphones have begun leaving the factory.

Production in Sweden is being led by Production Manager Hans Svensson, who has worked with building Milab microphones for the past 40 years. The company’s flagship VIP-60 is the first model being manufactured since production has begun again.

Milab has confirmed that it has begun development of new product lines that expand beyond its classic portfolio, and has revealed that upcoming releases will include both modern studio tools and new designs for studios and broadcast.

“Reviving MILAB is both a responsibility and a privilege,” says David Stenmarck (Epidemic Sound/IMRSV). “This is a brand deeply rooted in Swedish audio excellence, and also an important, largely untold part of the Swedish music wonder. To bring it back with the right people, the right values, and a long-term vision is a rare opportunity and an honor.”
