Nanolumens has recently been the recipient of a lawsuit leveled by Cree LED, accusing the display manufacturer of infringing on a number of patents (U.S. Patent Nos. US8049230, US9054257, US9831393, US7718991, US9240395, and USD691100). Cree claims that the allegedly infringed patents enable bright, high contrast displays for both indoor and outdoor applications.
“Protecting our intellectual property is essential to sustaining innovation and ensuring a level playing field,” said Jesse Reiherzer, vice president of Cree LED’s High Bright business. “We will continue to take decisive action to defend our patents and uphold the integrity of our technology.”
Our sister brand Systems Contractor News reached out to Nanolumens for a comment on the pending lawsuit. Nanolumens provided a statement to SCN, which reads in part:
“Nanolumens is aware of the lawsuit filed by Cree LED concerning a narrow segment of our product line. Cree LED has a history of filing multiple patent infringement lawsuits against various companies, including recent similar actions. While we do not comment on pending litigation, we want to clarify that the lawsuit pertains to a limited portion of our diverse portfolio of innovative solutions.”
