The 2026 Lille Video Mapping Festival saw the debut of Panasonic’s PT-RQ45 projector, turning the Opéra de Lille into the festival’s immersive projection mapping centerpiece.
Operating since 2018, the two-day festival transforms 11 sites over a mile-long walking route into a trail of digital art. The PT-RQ45 was deployed to cover the facade of the Place du Théâtre, a canvas spanning nearly 100 ft x 137 ft. Three of the three-chip DLP projectors were installed at a projection distance of about 137 feet, in a portrait orientation, creating a 3840 x 2160 resolution projection.
Pascal Leroy, the video technician on the project, commented: “Three years ago, we needed six 20,000-lumen projectors to cover a similar façade,” says the project’s video technician, Pascal Leroy. “Now, with three PT-RQ45 units delivering twice the brightness, we achieved the same scale with a much simpler setup. The design made it very easy to install the projectors in portrait orientation, even on a stacked container setup. It’s pragmatic and result-oriented, exactly what you need in a live environment.”
