Projection mapping show coming to London’s Westminster Cathedral

Light show will realize the architect's original vision for the cathedral, which was never completed

Following a run at Manchester Cathedral, the LUMINISCENCE projection mapping show is now heading to London’s Westminster Cathedral this summer.

The next installment of the show is especially notable in that it will bring to life the architect’s original vision for the cathedral. During the building’s construction over a century ago, insufficient funds meant the planned interior mosaics on the church’s domes were never completed. According to LUMINISCENCE, the original plans for the decor will be realized through digital modeling and projection mapping during the show.

The show, which is produced by Lotchi, will take advantage of 360° video mapping and feature orchestral arrangements performed by Lux Aeterna choir. Guests will be taken through the story of London, and the cathedral in particular, with a script written by BAFTA and Olivier Award-winning writer Tim Whitnall.

LUMINISCENCE will run from July 1st to September 27th.
