Samsung debuts 115-inch Micro RGB TV

Featuring new Micro RGB technology, the TV is coming to the US for $30,000

First teased at CES in January, Samsung has announced the launch of its 115-inch Micro RGB TV. Samsung claims that this TV is the first of its kind in the world, positioning Micro RGB technology to be an upgrade over the MicroLED technology found in other large-scale consumer displays.

The panel in the new TV features individually controlled red, green and blue micro RGB LEDs, each less than 100µm in size, arranged into an ultra-fine pattern. Samsung says this differs from conventional backlighting due to its architecture allowing control over each individual LED, resulting in higher color accuracy and contrast. The technology is powered by the company’s Micro RGB AI engine, which uses AI to optimize picture and sound. Samsung says that the technology “analyzes each frame in real time” in order to optimize color output.

The TV claims 100% color coverage of BT.2020, and has received ‘Micro RGB Precision Color’ certification from Germany’s Verband der Elektrotechnik. It has a refresh rate of 120Hz, with Samsung saying can be bumped up to 144Hz while gaming. Audio specs include a 70-watt 4.2.2 Dolby Atmos sound system that can be connected to an external soundbar.

The 115″ Micro RGB TV has already launched in South Korea for a bit over $30,000. Samsung has confirmed a US release, with pricing expected to land around $30,000.
