The company’s new M16 stack is notable for using a design that removes the need of a polarizer, helping improve the display’s brightness while improving power efficiency. Samsung claims the polarizer-free design enables up to 30% greater efficiency.
The display shown by Samsung during its presentation was a 6.9-inch panel with a resolution of 2560×1440 and a variable refresh rate up to 165Hz. The M16 stack is first coming to smartphones, and is likely to come to TVs and larger displays in the future.
