Samsung showcases upcoming trifold phone

No word on a launch, but Samsung's prototype unfolds into a 10-inch tablet

Attendees at this year’s APEC CEO Summit in South Korea got to take a sneak peek at a prototype of Samsung’s first trifold phone. As part of the summit’s K-Tech Showcase, the company had both a folded and unfolded configuration on display behind glass. The phone utilizes an inward-fold design, which is shown via an animation. While folded, the phone sports a 6.5-inch screen that expands to become a 10-inch tablet when unfolded.

While Samsung has not revealed any additional hardware specs of the prototype, photos from Bloomberg and The Chosun Daily shows that three camera lenses are featured on its rear. The company has hinted in the past that 2025 would see its first trifold release, but no confirmation has been given that this prototype is a launch product.

“The recent showcase reflects ongoing R&D efforts, and we plan to bring this next generation device to users within this year,” the company said in a statement to SamMobile.
