Revealed at this year’s CES, Samsung has released more information about its Premiere 5 triple laser ultra-short-throw projector. While it brings with it top-level specs for a UST laser projector, what makes its stand out is its ability to project onto a flat surface like a table and project content that can directly interacted with. The touch interactivity component of the Premiere 5 is handled by an infrared laser module and infrared camera that Samsung says can track up to 10 touch points at once. Use cases that have been demoed by the company so far include drastically upsizing a game being run on a cell phone, as well as picture-tracing app. Samsung also sees educational applications of the Premiere 5, remarking that its touch interactivity can “education more interesting.”
Already available in South Korea, there has so far been no information on a North American launch for the Premiere 5, though its presence at stateside trade shows imply it should be coming soon.
