Motorcycle helmet manufacturer Shoei has partnered with EyeLights, a company specializing in heads-up-displays (HUD), to release the GT-Air 3 Smart, billed as the world’s first motorcycle helmet to fully integrate augmented reality technology. The GT-Air 3 Smart eliminates the need for any external devices by projecting information directly into an HUD that is integrated into the helmet’s visor via a nano-OLED display.

EyeLights says that drivers can take advantage of the new technology by projecting key information into their FOV, including speed, radar warnings, and GPS navigation. These metrics are displayed at a virtual distance of three meters from the wearer, and according to the company, helps improve driver reaction times by over 32%. The visor’s nano-OLED display allows information to be seen in Full HD, even in direct sunlight.
The Shoei GT-Air 3 Smart is available now in an array of color options, priced at $1,199.
