Shure debuts new wireless stereo microphone

The MoveMic 88+ is built for versatility, with field recording and videography in mind

Shure has revealed a new wireless take on the stereo microphone, the MoveMic 88+. Designed to capture the qualities that make the company’s MV88 condenser microphone so popular, the MoveMic 88+ looks to add the convenience of wireless connectivity for applications such as videography and field recording.

Shure forms Wireless Microphone Spectrum Alliance

The new microphone features four selectable polar patterns (stereo, cardioid, bi-directional, and raw mid-side), and can pair wirelessly with a smartphone or with a MoveMic receiver. Shure says the MoveMic 88+ can be used as a handheld mic, or users can use the included 5/8″ or cold shoe mic clips to attach to “most popular tripods or mic stands.” Other connectivity options include USB-C or 3.5mm for use with cameras or computers.

A customizable DSP allows for gain, EQ, presets, high pass filter, mute, and noise reduction controls, while Shure says the MoveMic 88+ has a wireless range of up to 100 feet with eight hours of battery life.

A standalone version of the new mic is available now for $299, while a bundle including a MoveMic receiver is available for $449.
