Skechers introduces a Proto Hologram of Howie Mandel in Manhattan Beach store

Skechers unveiled its first permanent hologram installation as part of its partnership with Howie Mandel

Proto Holograms have started to make their way to retail spaces, and Skechers has officially unveiled its the first ever permanent Proto Hologram retail experience at the brand’s Manhattan Beach store. The installation brings Skechers ambassador Howie Mandel to life through an interactive interactive hologram, allowing guests to take a selfie with a three-dimensional likeness of Mandel.

The experience marks one of the first permanent Proto Hologram installations in a footwear retail environment and introduces what Proto calls a new model for ‘in-store storytelling’ -where consumers can interact with a life-size hologram, take a “Proto Selfie” with Howie, and even unlock a promotion through the experience.

Before he was an official ambassador, Mandel walked into a Skechers store, took a selfie, and joked that he should get a discount because he already represented the brand. That moment ultimately led to a real partnership – and serves as the inspiration behind the brand’s first Proto installation, where consumers can take their own “selfie” with Mandel’s hologram and become part of the story themselves.
