A power outage left 70 guests stranded on the Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon ride at Universal Orlando last Saturday. Park officials said that the ride paused in an elevated, but upright position.

Fire officials used safety harnesses, ladders, and ropes to escort the passengers safely off the ride, with no medical events or injuries reported. Each rider was assisted individually and the park reports that the rescue operation was concluded within 30 minutes of starting.

“It just jerked suddenly and then it was just this same message over and over again,” one rider commented about the experience to WESH. “It didn’t feel like things were being communicated in a well manner, it was just the same thing over and over again, like, ‘Hey, we’re gonna get it fixed ASAP.’ Eventually it was, ‘Oh, the ride may continue at any moment,’ and then it turned into, ‘OK, we’re just gonna get you guys out of there.'”

Though the power outage reportedly affected multiple areas of the park, Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon is the only ride that required a rescue operation.
