Struggling Six Flags appoints new CEO

John Reilly has been tasked with transforming Six Flags

Six flags has been struggling of late, with declining revenue and a new lawsuit from investors alleging the companies lied about the state of its parks. In a bid to improve things, the company has appointed John Reilly as president and CEO. Reilly has experience as interim CEO with SeaWorld Parks Entertainment and as a park operator.

Reilly joins Six Flags shortly after several of the company’s parks have been shut down, while the fate of several more hang in the balance. Since the company’s merger with Cedar Fair in 2023, notable closures include the recent shuttering of Maryland’s Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor, while the closure of other parks such as Six Flags Great America have been floated by the company as possibilities.

“It has been a privilege to lead Six Flags through critical and transformative periods,” said outgoing president Richard Zimmerman, following Reilly’s appointment.  “I am confident the Company is poised for tremendous growth and success.”
