
TCL showcased its next-generation LCD panel at this year’s CES with a 98″ inch prototype that could begin showing up in displays as early as the end of this year. In a conversation with CSOT, TCL’s panel manufacturing subsidiary, FlatpanelsHD was able to learn about the next-gen panel, which is known as HVA Pro. According to FlatpanelsHD, the HVA Pro builds on WHVA, and features an expanded color gamut up to 88% Rec.2020. Additionally, the new panel is built with ultra-slim 2.9mm bezels and has a reduced reflectance of 2%.
TCL to begin inkjet-printing OLED panels by year’s end
FlatpanelsHD points out that the HVA Pro panel is approaching QD-OLED levels of color, which suggests that future versions of the panel could include RGB miniLED backlights.
