WATCH: Tesla’s Optimus robot bartends event

Walking, personable Optimus robots were the talk of the night

The CyberCab wasn’t the only automated device Tesla was showing off at its Hollywood event last week. The company’s Optimus robot was shown off in force, with models strolling around the event and even acting as bartenders for guests. Tesla has taken some flack online since it was revealed that while all walking by the Optimus bots driven by AI, the robots’ upper half was being teleoperated by human actors. This may come as slightly less surprising if you remember the job listing the company posted looking for people to wear motion-tracking suits for the Optimus. Still, CEO Elon Musk says the Tesla robot will be “the biggest product ever of any kind.” That promise might be a ways off, but for now, these robots are a fun novelty that can banter and pour a cold drink.
