
Accessory company Velvet Caviar has issued a recall for multiple models of its MagSafe Battery Pack wireless power bank due to a fire risk. According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, about 89,500 units are affected, citing that “the lithium-ion battery in the recalled power banks can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.”
Consumers are urged to stop using the affected products immediately, with Velvet Caviar stating that they will replace the device at no additional cost.
Velvet Caviar says that devices with the following PO numbers are eligible for replacement:
- PO-PP010
- PO-PP009
- PO-PP008
- PO-PP007
- PO-PP006
- PO-PP005
- PO-PP004
- PO-PP003
- any battery pack missing a PO-#
To receive a replacement, consumers will be required to provide photographs of their power bank with the word “Recalled” written in permanent marker before uploading them to the firm’s website here.
