AV and broadcast equipment can sometimes experience interference from wildlife, but it’s not very often that said interference results in a viral moment. Earlier this month at the JM Eagle LA Championship, held at El Caballero Country Club in Los Angeles, a coyote didn’t seem to mind the presence of the crowd and cameras as it mistook a field microphone’s windscreen for a wild rabbit.
The commentators for the international gold tournament broke down the moment as it unfolded. “He’s on the prowl, now, what’s he getting?” remarked one analyst as the coyote honed in on its prey. After attempting to make off with the microphone, the canine admitted defeat upon realizing the equipment was tethered to the ground, and thankfully left it on the course.
