Disney has unveiled a new model of Audio-Animatronic that utilizes projection mapping to transform in front of guests eyes. Disney has put its new face technology into a Disney theme park attraction for the first time, and it shows up in one of Disneyland’s oldest scenes. The skeleton pirate atop the gold in Pirates of the Caribbean contains the first projection-mapped Audio-Animatronic face for a Disney theme park attraction. In the video above, Imagineers show the new technology they are bringing to the 59-year-old attraction. As the pirate tempts fate by picking up a gold coin, his human face transforms to a skeletal visage, before releasing the coin and returning back to normal.
