WATCH: EPCOT evacuated as fire breaks out

A walk-in cooler caught fire Saturday evening, causing a temporary evacuation of the park

A fire broke out Walt Disney World’s EPCOT park over the weekend, necessitating a section of the park to be evacuated. A walk-in cooler in the park’s French Pavilion caught fire on Saturday evening, causing plumes of dark smoke to fill the sky. According to Entertainment Weekly, the cooler was located in an employees-only area restricted to guests. A Walt Disney World official confirmed that the fire was extinguished around 7:20 pm by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District fire department. Guests were then allowed back into the area, though the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride remained closed for the rest of the evening. No injuries were reported.
