An impressive drone show captivated New Yorkers last week as King Kong ascended the Empire State Building. The show was put on by drone specialists Studio Hock, who recreated the iconic scene from the original King Kong. Studio Hock says that the drones maintained an accurate position down to sub-five centimeters, creating the illusion of the giant ape climbing the 1,400-foot tower. Studio Hock credits its new drone platform, Helios, for making the stunt possible.
“We also built a custom RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) correction network tuned specifically for NYC’s vertical terrain — overcoming GPS multipath distortion from reflective glass and magnetic interference from steel structures,” stated Studio Hock. “Each drone held sub-5cm precision, dynamically syncing across a mesh network that adapted to shifting winds and RF noise in real time. All of it — the precision, the motion, the timing — ran on something special we’ve been developing called Helios Protocol.”
