Lenovo has debuted an interesting concept device at MWC trade expo in Barcelona this year. The AI Workmate Concept is a robotic projector with a friendly face that sits on the users desk to help assist with tasks. A swiveling base and articulating arm provide movement, while AI allows it to respond to voice prompts.
Integrated cameras allow the AI Workmate Concept to “read” sketches and notes written on paper. In the concept video, this allows the device to turn written notes into proper slides, which can then be projected onto the user’s desk or wall. Lenovo says that all of this takes place within a local LLM, meaning no information will be uploaded to a cloud.
It’s an interesting concept that leverages AI in a way we haven’t often seen, though there’s no word on whether or not it will eventually make it into full-scale production.
