PUDU Robotics, a Chinese robotics startup, has revealed its newest robot. that it says is “born to serve.” The D9 robot is shown in new renders to stock store shelves and carrying boxes, while a new video shows off the robot’s ability to operate a Pudu SH1 floor scrubber. The robot is shows off its walking speed of 4.5 mph, while its “disturbance rejection” feature is shown to keep the bot upright and walking when a staffer kicks it from behind. The D9 is also shown handling variance in terrain, walking from a flat surface to a ramp with a 10-degree incline, back to flat ground again. Most interesting, however, is the D9’s use of its articulating hands to grasp, power on, and use the floor scubber.
PUDU says the 5.57-foot tall D9 can carry loads up to 44 lbs and utilizes “real-time 3D semantic mapping” to scan its environments and plot its own routes autonomously.
