The repair specialists at iFixit are back, this time with an in-depth teardown of Samsung’s new flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra. In addition to the annual spec upgrades, the new phone includes a 6.9” AMOLED display with an integrated privacy screen mode that can be toggled on and off.
Unfortunately, this improved display makes teardown and repair even more difficult. There are some components that iFixit is a fan of, including an easy-to-replace battery that utilizes a plastic adhesive jacket instead of gobs of glue. The USB-C port is easy to access, and can be replaced/repaired without too much trouble. But the aforementioned screen is enough of a pain to cancel out any other wins by Samsung.
“With enough heat, suction, patience, and acceptance that the original panel may not survive, you can get through it,” iFixit says of the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s display. “That’s a terrible way to approach one of the most failure-prone parts on the phone.”
