WATCH: The Unitree R1 humanoid robot can be yours for $6,000

The R1 "intelligent companion" costs half the price of Unitree's flagship models

Robotics company Unitree has several models in its lineup, including the agile, backflipping H1 humanoid robot and the more standard G1 model. These products command a high price however, starting at $90,000 and $16,000, respectively. That makes the launch of Unitree’s R1 robot notable, as this 4-foot, 55-pound bipedal bot is sold starting at $5,900. Marketed as an “intelligent companion,” the R1 features Unitree’s staple articulation and agility, with one notable drawback: a lack of moving hands. Instead of the articulating hands on the company’s other models, the R1 comes with two static fists. Still, it is built with a Large Multimodal Model to understand and obey commands; as well as cameras, microphones, and speakers for listening and communicating.
