Universal Orlando has given its first official deep dive into the upcoming Super Nintendo World, one of five areas that will open as part of Universal Epic Universe next year. In a new video, several members of the Universal creative team offer insight to the design and philosophy that has gone into bringing Super Nintendo World to life. It appears that the team behind the new park are lifelong Nintendo fans, so the design, details, and rides in the new area should be a love letter to fans of the brand everywhere.

Super Nintendo World will consist of two main areas: Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country. One of the main features of the new world is the Power-Up Band, a wristband that enables guests to play games and keep track of scores. Immersion is a core part of Super Mario World’s design, and that couldn’t be clearer in one of the area’s most anticipated attractions, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. The ride makes uses of augmented reality glasses to make riders feel as if they are inside a game, where they can make choices to affect the outcome of the race.
At the center of everything, “it’s just all about fun, man, it’s all about fun,” says Senior Vice President of Universal Creative Eric Parr.
