Altinex Rolls Out Mini Controller

Altinex has launched the first offering in the company's new Neutron Series controller line. Designed for extending the capabilities of Altinex's MultiTouch line of touch panels, the new Neutron CP500-110 Mini-Controller is aimed at installations such as boardrooms, presentation spaces, lecture halls, residential control systems, and operations centers.

Altinex has launched the first offering in the company’s new Neutron Series controller line. Designed for extending the capabilities of Altinex’s MultiTouch line of touch panels, the new Neutron CP500-110 Mini-Controller is aimed at installations such as boardrooms, presentation spaces, lecture halls, residential control systems, and operations centers.

Offering multipoint device control from a compact Ethernet-based unit, the CP500-110 supports multiple MultiTouch touch panels and provides control of up to two RS-232 devices, two IR devices, two relay-based devices, and two sensor inputs. The Neutron Mini-Controller is designed to work with a variety of sensors, including motion sensors, IR detectors, and RF detectors, says the company. The sensor inputs accept voltages up to 24 VDC and each sensor input has an independent trigger level setting that can be used to determine if a sensor has been tripped or activated based on movement or occupancy.

According to Altinex, the device’s two relays can be used to control external devices, such as a projector screen. They can also be used to route power to low-power DC devices. Its two bi-directional RS-232 COM ports are able to communicate with almost any serial device and can be individually set with different baud rates, parity, stop bits, and data bits

An AV system that uses an IR receiver can be created so a user can aim a remote control at a wall mount or other receiver and automatically redirect the remote’s signal to the IR emitters connected to the two output pins of the controller. Alternately, a computer, controller, or other device can send IR command strings from the Altinex IR library directly to CP500-110 using an Altinex MultiTouch panel. Also, IR commands can be stored in the Neutron’s internal memory for the purpose of controlling external devices.

“The CP500-110 Mini-Controller takes our company’s MultiTouch panels and makes them even more capable by facilitating control over more devices-and this includes remote operation utilizing the existing architecture of an Ethernet network,” said Phil Hale, vice president of sales and marketing, in a statement. “With its ability to control a wide range of display devices, lighting controls, motorized shades, drapes, and screens, plus HVAC systems, this controller [enables] integrators to create sophisticated AV systems at lower cost, which in turn, enables the end user to achieve greater return on investment.”

The Neutron CP500-110 Mini-Controller is expected to be available next month.
