AMX announced that Walt Megura, in addition to his current role as vice president, global market development, will assume the newly created position of vice president, U.S. Sales and Global Marketing.

Said Rashid Skaf, AMX president and CEO in a statement, “Walt has been a trusted partner to me for over 15 years and as AMX continues to evolve and grow, he is the perfect choice to take our sales effort to the next level. AMX leads the industry by providing premium audiovisual, digital media, and building automation solutions with an emphasis on solution integration. This new role will improve our ability to effectively present this message to the marketplace and deliver the full benefit and breadth of the AMX product portfolio to our customers.

“Walt’s immediate task will be to lead the continued evolution of AMX as a leading provide of integrated solutions for total environment management,” Skaf added.

Megura will be responsible for the strategic direction and execution of the company’s commercial and residential sales operations throughout the United States and all marketing programs worldwide. Additionally, he will continue to drive the strategic initiative to formally establish AMX as the standard technology platform of choice for key vertical markets. In this organizational change, domestic sales, sales engineering, global marketing, technical support, professional services, training, and sales operations will fold under one unit. The company believes this combination of its various customer-centric organizations formalized into one group will position AMX to better present its overall portfolio of solutions to the marketplace.

“As the various systems within a building become increasingly integrated, AMX will continue to focus on how to simplify the way people interact with technology,” said Megura in a statement. “Today’s marketplace requires reliable, scalable technologies that centralize the management, monitoring and control of those technology assets across the network. I will be collaborating with our dealers, consultants, and sales force to ensure the focus and execution needed to prepare for and benefit from this continued industry trend.”

Before joining AMX, Megura was senior vice president for the Americas at Intervoice, which was acquired by Convergys. He has also held a number of senior level leadership positions, from vice president and general manager for Global Broadband and IPTV to sales leadership roles at Nortel and EMC.
