Smart Technologies recently unveiled two new interactive products for business that are designed to enhance interactivity and collaboration, according to company officials. Both the Smart Board 885ix interactive whiteboard system and the Smart Board 8070i interactive display support common multitouch gestures currently recognized in the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, enabling multiple users to create and interact with digital content simultaneously.

Last week, AVYVE, an AV systems integration company headquartered in Atlanta, hosted a two-day sneak preview of Smart’s new Collaboration System for Business, which includes the new Smart Board 8070i. The invitation-only event was held at AVYVE’s Technology Research Studio in midtown Atlanta.

“It was exciting to introduce a new technology that will change the way businesses communicate and share ideas,” said Merry McCleary, president and CEO of AVYVE, in a statement. “Smart shipped AVYVE the prototype product after its launch. Our team has worked closely with Smart to develop the Meeting Pro software that drives the collaboration system. It’s great to see the process come to its fruition. This new product is game changing.”

The Smart Collaboration System for Business consists of a 70-inch 1080p Smart Board Interactive Display with dual touch that’s driven by Smart Meeting Pro and Bridgit software. The system allows users to collaborate within a single room or multiple locations anywhere in the world. The display employs Digital Vision Touch (DViT) technology, developed by Smart, which enables four digital cameras to track objects interacting with the display surface. Because the system uses high-definition LCD technology, no projector is necessary.

Using DViT technology, both the interactive whiteboard system and the interactive display deliver a touch experience that supports multitouch, multiuser writing, and object awareness. Object awareness enables users to interact with digital content using their fingers, fists, pens or erasers interchangeably and allows two users to work simultaneously at the interactive whiteboard system or interactive display.

As for the new Smart displays themselves, the Smart Board 885ix is a fully integrated system that includes an 87-inch widescreen interactive whiteboard with 16:10 aspect ratio, ultra-short-throw projector, and extended control panel. The Smart Board 8070i offers a high-definition 70-inch display with 16:9 aspect ratio and features a sleek, contemporary design to complement the business environment.

“As organizations around the world continue to adopt interactive technology products to support their business activities, they require easy-to-use, intuitive tools that promote collaboration and make the most of meeting time,” said Nancy Knowlton, Smart’s CEO, in a statement. “Both the Smart Board 885ix interactive whiteboard system and the Smart Board 8070i interactive display are designed specifically for business users, whether they meet in the same room or remotely from around the world.”

Both the 885ix and the 8070i will be available globally by the end of January 2011.
