NEC Display Solutions of America has added a 65-inch model to its commercial-grade V Series of LCD displays. The new V651 offers digital signage users a full-featured display option at an affordable price, according to the company.

Designed for extended use in retail, restaurants, indoor venues, training facilities and corporate boardrooms, the V651 introduces several new features to the V Series product line. It’s a full 1080p, commercial-grade panel that protects against permanent image retention. Along with a built-in expansion slot that allows for integration of NEC accessories, third-party components, and Open Pluggable Specification-based products, the V651 has built-in 10W speakers and enhanced connectivity with a digital loop-through option.

“The V651 is an excellent addition for customers that want to brighten their facility,” said Rachel Karnani, product manager for large-screen displays at NEC, in a statement. “The addition of the expansion slot future-proofs the display and offers a solution for current technologies like a single-board computer. Customers will appreciate the added features, as well as the increase in size to accommodate larger areas and audiences.”

The V651’s commercial-grade, sealed panel design includes advanced cooling capabilities, according to the company. It sports a brightness of 400 cd/m², a contrast ratio of 5,000:1, and DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI-D connections. It also supports RS-232C, RJ-45 LAN, IR remote, and DDC/CI control.

NEC’s TileMatrix technology supports videowalls of up to 100 displays. The product’s real-time clock has the ability to set schedules for turning the display on or off and warming up the display for 30 minutes before use for optimum color, company officials said.

NEC said the V651 will be available in June at an estimated street price of $5,299. It will ship with a 3 years parts and labor warranty, including the backlight.
