The PRO AV 60

No, this is not just another list. When Pro AV set out to shine a light on 60 hard-working, creative, community-minded AV companies, we decided rankings by revenue wouldn't do. That wasn't the snapshot of a growing, changing industry we wanted to take.

So in August we e-mailed Pro AV readers, asking integrators, dealers, consultants, and rep firms to tell us about themselves. We wanted to know what they thought they were good at, what markets they served, what projects they’d completed, and what advice they had for others. More than 100 companies took us up on the offer. Based on their insights, we chose the Pro AV 60.

When we asked AV firms about themselves, we asked for a little insight into their business prospects. And get this: Of all the companies that submitted information for the PRO AV 60, more than half said they expected to close our a brutal 2009 with more revenue than they had in 2008. Only 21 percent expected less revenue and about 28 percent expected a flat year.

We also asked them to characterize the financial health of the pro AV industry going forward. A whopping 70 percent felt the industry would enjoy slight to moderate growth while only 16 percent expected things to be flat to down (14 percent were looking at “strong” growth in the future).

Only companies that participated were eligible, which is to say what you have here is a subset of the many great AV companies operating today. To everybody who shared their experiences, we say thanks.
