RGB Spectrum announced the MediaWall Duo 450, the next generation of its MediaWall Duo system, along with the DSx SD/HD codec, an H.264 video-over-IP solution.

The MediaWall Duo delivers full functionality for larger-display wall arrays with one virtual control panel. The processor maintains up to 60 windows displayed simultaneously without losing image quality, the company says. It supports up to 60 graphic and video inputs across a 3×8 array. Input windows can be configured to be global (anywhere on the wall) or regional (located on the left or right half of the wall).

According to the company, the processor is based on a custom, high-performance architecture rather than a PC, meaning faster updates, more display flexibility, and added security. Its software application, an extension of RGB Spectrum’s Web Control Panel, runs remotely under Windows 2000 or XP.

Also new from RGB Spectrum, the DSx SD/HD codec can encode and stream either a single channel of HD 1080p video or four NTSC/PAL video channels simultaneously up to 30 frames per second each, says the company. The codec uses H.264 compression to optimize image quality with maximum bandwidth efficiency.

Also useful as a decoder, the DSx can display one HD stream or up to four SD streams in a quad image. Other features include the ability to record to external USB storage devices, RS-485/RS-422 communication for external control of PTZ cameras, and a choice of external power or Power over Ethernet.
