Sony Creative Software Vegas Pro 9.0e

Updates to Sony’s Vegas Pro 9 help pros edit audio and video projects.

Sony Creative Software’s popular Vegas Pro 9 nonlinear HD video and audio editing application now offers closed captioning, multilayer file support, and other broadcast-friendly features in the new version 9.0e. In addition to closed captioning of CEA-608 data, version 9.0e supports multilayer Photoshop document (PSD) files, providing a more flexible way to create animation and other effects from a PSD image, more compositing of PSD files, and individual control over separate file layers. Also new to Vegas Pro 9.0e are improvements made to the system’s device explorer, which supports additional cameras, hard disks, and memory recording devices. Timeline burning to DVD—similar to the pre-existing Vegas Pro “Burn to Blu-ray” process—give editors an easier output method for their video-editing projects. And there’s a new PreSonus FaderPort control surface driver, which supports using a touch-sensitive device to control volume and pan parameters, as well as play, stop, start, and transport functions, in addition to using a mouse or keyboard.

Registered Vegas Pro 9 users can download the update from sonycreativesoftware.com for free; users of Vegas Pro 8 or earlier versions pay $235.
