SIM2 dubs the Grand Cinema HT5000 projector the first three-chip 1080p DLP model designed specifically for home theater. The HT5000 utilizes three Texas Instruments 0.95in. 1080p DarkChip3 DMD chips, and adds SIM2 optics and a 300W lamp. The result is said to be a bright, realistic image with a contrast ratio of 5000:1 measured at full on/full off performance. The SIM2 HT5000 will be available in the coming months in single- and dual-300W lamp configurations, both as standalone units and packaged with the company’s DigiOptic image processor.
