Housing preset tunings developed expressly to optimize the performance of QSC loudspeakers, the new SC28 System Controller facilitates quick and easy system setup. A two-input, eight-output DSP device, the controller additionally offers user-adjustable EQ and delay.

Simple and intuitive to use, the SC28’s audio quality is rooted in 48kHz, 24-bit A/D and D/A conversion technology with 32-bit, floating-point DSP offering wide dynamic range and low distortion. Balanced, line-level, analog XLR connectors are provided at all inputs and outputs, while all DSP tunings incorporate IIR (Infinite Impulse Response) as well as FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filtering.

As utilized within the SC28’s circuitry, FIR filtering offers what QSC system engineers refer to as Intrinsic Correctio of loudspeakers used with the device. Providing a drive signal to the amplifiers and loudspeakers with the most accurate acoustical magnitude, frequency, and phase domain performance possible, FIR filtering and its Intrinsic Correction qualities compensate for inherent transducer and waveguide magnitude and time-based response anomalies. As a result, the performance of loudspeaker systems under SC28 control is marked with excellent power response and natural, uncolored sound across its entire bandwidth and area of coverage. Arrays of loudspeakers operating with Intrinsic Correction tunings are additionally quite responsive to the use of equalization to compensate for array configuration, acoustical conditions, and individual user preferences.

System tunings can be selected by simply scrolling through a list of QSC loudspeakers found on the SC28’s front LCD panel and selecting the desired configuration (two-way, three-way, etc.). A nearly identical process is utilized to select the QSC amps being used, as well as each amplifier’s input sensitivity. To accommodate future QSC products, new tunings can be easily loaded into the SC28 via a USB port found on its rear panel.

Once the SC28 has been configured to match a system, integral six-band parametric equalization can be added along with high and low shelving filters and signal delay. Fully password protected to thwart unauthorized tampering, the SC28 also provides thermal and excursion loudspeaker protection, as well as a channel linking feature that can be used to select linked or independent control of stereo channel settings.
