IHSE JPEG-XS IP Core for KVM

JPEG XS is an image and video coding system developed by Fraunhofer IIS that enables visually lossless image quality and can thus replace uncompressed raw data to significantly reduce bandwidth and energy requirements as well as the resulting costs. In cooperation with Fraunhofer IIS, IHSE is the first KVM manufacturer to implement the novel codec in an IP core for near-latency-free transmission of high-definition video, enabling resolutions of up to 10K and frame rates of up to 480 Hz. The JPEG XS IP Core developed by IHSE is intended as a licensing product to other companies in the broadcast, esports, and professional AV industry. The IP Core can be integrated into broadcast and distribution equipment such as cameras, extenders, and video processing equipment. JPEG XS enables flexible bandwidth-dependent scaling and compression of the image material. The encoding process excludes frame drops and allows for variable subsampling options. In addition, the JPEG XS IP Core is resource-optimized. Depending on the size of the FPGA used, resolution and bandwidth can be scaled, which significantly reduces coding space requirements and development costs
