Cable certifications seem to multiply like rabbits, and not only has THX become one of the latest companies to create its own certification program, but they have announced the first HDMI cables to receive their certification.
While any HDMI 2.1-compliant cable that transmits 48Gbps of data has the honor of being called an Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable, only the Pixelgen Series 8 and PXLGLASS 8 optical fiber/copper HDMI cable (also from Pixelgen) are officially THX-certified. This certification ensures that either cable will deliver on their promise of ultra high speed without succumbing to signal degradation.

Both cables meet the Ultra High Speed definition, and will carry 48Gbps of signal to 4K (at 120Hz) or 8K (at 60Hz) displays. The Series 8 is available up to 6.6 feet in length, while the PXLGLASS 8 goes all the way up to 50 ft for your longer distance needs.
“With long-haul full bandwidth HDMI, problems have historically popped up in the field. When developing an HDMI cable, our priority is to ensure that we receive backing from HDMI as technology standard through their HDMI Compliance test center for the obvious areas of failure, including Eye diagrams (Jitter), Skew, Insertion loss for example. THX Certification tests explore key areas of failure that commonly arise, most notably in Active HDMI cable,” said Jack MacDougall, founder of Pixelgen Design.
