Here's a rundown of commercial-grade flatpanel displays, 70in. and up, with LED technology and Ultra HD/4K resolutions.

This month, we look at “pro-sumer”/commercial-grade flatpanel displays, 70in. and up, with LED technology and Ultra HD/4K resolutions. A year ago, we mentioned LED flatpanel technology would become more prominent (versus LCD) and sure enough, the technology certainly has evolved to the forefront. It also appears the 1080p HD wave has now subsided and the flatpanel industry is screaming 4K—even though only select 4K content is available.

Christie QuadHD84

The Christie QuadHD84 is a 60Hz, 84in. LCD panel featuring Quad HD resolution (3840×2160) and LED backlighting. Using four times as many pixels as a standard 1080p HD screen and fast image processing, the QuadHD84 displays high-resolution content and detailed imagery with 50,000 hours illumination life. Fast processing ensures high performance and meets the needs of complex visualization displays. The panel’s native resolution is driven by four frame-locked HDMI or DVI sources at 60Hz. The Christie QuadHD84 is wall-mountable or can be used as a free-standing display and quickly connects to high-performance workstations or image processors. Boasting 8.2 megapixels and smooth motion with built-in speakers, the Christie QuadHD84 is suitable for applications including academia; aerospace; automotive; control rooms; government; medical; museums; laboratories; oil and gas; research and development; and science and biotechnology.

JVC PS-840UD

The JVC PS-840UD Professional Series ProVérité 4K 84in. LCD monitor offers 60p input and display capability for professional sports and other high-speed content. Designed for custom installations, the PS-840UD includes compatibility with the Intel open pluggable specification (OPS), which makes it a high-performance choice for high-end public signage display applications. Specifically developed for rigorous commercial use, the monitor features an IPS LCD panel with 120Hz refresh rate and 10-bit color depth. Housed in a slim bezel with a 178-degree viewing angle, the edge-lit LED-illuminated monitors produce vibrant, natural images from a variety of HD and 4K input sources.

LG 98LS95A

LG’s 98LS95A 4K Ultra HD Digital Signage Monitor represents the company’s largest commercial-grade monitor to date—a massive 98in. edge-lit LED display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 3840×2160 resolution, displaying images with four times the resolution of a Full HD (1080p) television. An image with more than 8.2 million pixels, the 98LS95A Ultra HD monitor provides higher-resolution, higher-brightness, and energy efficient LED, and Ultra HD technology, for the sharp pictures. Additionally, LG’s IPS panel technology produces accurate and consistent colors from wide viewing angles. LG’s webOS software development kit will enable integrators to develop their own ideal customizable signage solutions. The flexible webOS architecture enables easy-to-build, Web-based apps across multiple platforms, including Android, iOS, and Windows. In addition, the middleware layer above webOS allows system integrators to write HTML5 programs for their customized solutions.

NEC MultiSync X841UHD

Panasonic LQ70 Series

Planar UltraRes Touch

Planar UltraRes Touch combines an 84in. or 98in. multi-touch experience with 4K image clarity. Planar UltraRes Touch offers 32 points of multi-touch, multi-user technology, making it easy for multiple users to collaborate and interact at the same time. With a native 4K resolution of 3840×2160, Planar UltraRes Touch displays provide four times the resolution of a Full HD display for amazing clarity. Planar UltraRes Touch displays incorporate Planar’s ERO (Extended Ruggedness and Optics) technology to provide superior durability, optical performance and touch accuracy for applications such as way-finding, product catalog browsing, video selection or any interactive application designed to engage customers. Planar UltraRes Touch displays come with an advanced energy-efficient design that utilizes LED backlight technology and passive cooling. Displays can automatically switch to standby mode when no source is detected and consume less than 0.5W of standby power. Featuring built-in UltraRes Media- Plex software, up to eight directly attached sources can be viewed, four at a time, in Full HD quadrants within the display. Samsung QM85D

It is designed for use in vertical market settings where visual display plays a critical role in both capturing attention and conducting business. The QM85D offers life-like picture quality with UHD resolution, featuring four times the number of pixels compared to Full HD 1080p; it also supports full 60 frame per second content playback utilizing up to two DisplayPort 1.2 ports.

Sharp PN-H701

The Sharp PN-H701, 70in.-class 4K Ultra HD professional display, incorporates a screen with the size and high-resolution image quality to showcase varying commercial content from detailed text to beautifully textured graphics. It is equipped with a high-definition 4K LCD panel of about 8.29 million pixels (3840×2160). For video that is less than 4K, high-definition video signals are processed through an up-conversion engine. The display can be installed in either landscape or portrait configurations.

Sony X950B

Sony refers to its 85in. diagonal X950B as its “Flagship 4K Ultra HD TV.” It includes Sony X-Reality Pro processing, which provides white and dark black balance controls, keeping the light areas bright while keeping blacks truly black. HD content is upscaled to 4K Ultra HD and X-tended Dynamic Range provides up to 3x brightness range. The panel provides expanded color with TRILUMINOS display.
