Mounts and racks really make the installation. They can provide operator comfort, proper equipment ventilation, and just the right appearance to make the whole installation work and look first rate. Mounts and racks can also make maintenance and upgrades a lot easier, saving time, money and wear and tear. The units shown here represent the latest ingenuity in pro AV installation..

The TBL102 Table Buddy from Altinexclamps to the edge of a table for temporary or permanent installations (clamps can be removed for permanent mounting) and it can be custom fitted with user configurable input connector plates. Complete with an integrated tie-wrap bar, the TBL102 ships completely assembled with the customer specified sectional plate. The box can accommodate connectors for video, audio, network, telecom, control, and AC power in a variety of combinations to suit the specific installation. When mounted, the panel extends only 3in. above the table surface and it can be used on a table thickness up to 2.5in.

Atlas Sound RX21-25SFD

Rugged portable racks from Atlas Sound are constructed of 16-gauge, cold-rolled steel (CRS) with 11-gauge steel mounting rails and they all include heavy duty oversized 4in. casters, two of which are locking. A typical example is the RX21-25SFD, a 30in.-deep 21RU rack with recessed, hinged, and padded steel grips on each side, three wiring access ports and 700lbs. weight capacity. As with the other models, it features vented and locking removable doors along with mounting rail supports that have slotted cutouts for vertical wire management. For heat management there are also vented top, sides, and base. The rear door can be hinged on either side and the SFD version includes a solid front door that is 1in. deep to allow for equipment knobs and switches. Other options include RR Series rack rails, drawers, shelves, and fans.

Avteq Slimline AV Pedestal

The newest addition to its Technology Conference Series from Avteq, the Slimline AV Pedestal combines conference table support with a 3RU internal rack space and a rack depth of 17.25 in. With locking hinged cabinet doors on each side and plenty of ventilation, the pedestal includes leveling feet, solid steel construction and a choice of finishes to match the look of the conference room. The top and bottom have cutouts for power, data, and electronics cable entry. The optional extras include a six port surge protector, wood veneer table top, cooling fan, and model specific rack shelves for various codecs. The Slimline AV Pedestal can be ordered for an existing table top or designed with its own as a complete solution.

Chief NW1F2818

Chief Manufacturing designed its NW1 Series racks with vented bottom and side panels, laser-cut knockouts for cable installation, front and rear mounting rails and a 3RU space in the top to mount a fan unit or to serve as a vent. The NW1-F2828 28RU sectional wall rack has 300lbs. weight capacity, 18in. depth and a wrinkle powder coat finish. Hinges for separately ordered doors can be installed on either side and the rack can be mounted to wood studs, steels studs, or concrete. Configuration is simplified with Chief’s RackBuilder online rack design tool. Accessories include the LCS-W1 Series custom cut vertical lacing strips.

Da-Lite Da-Lift Motorized Projector Lift

The Da-Lift Motorized Projector Lift from Da-Lite is all metal and can handle projectors up to 300lbs. The bottom is adjustable for a flush ceiling installation and it can be finished to match the room. It features a three-position control switch with cover plate and there is an optional plenum kit available. Other accessories include various wireless control devices, a key operated 110V switch and video projector interface.

Draper Aero25

Available in three models, Draper’s AeroLift projector lifts range from the AeroLift 25 with a lifting capacity of 25lbs. to the AeroLift 150 with 150 lbs. lifting capability. Each can be ordered with an110V or 220V motor and with or without Draper controls. The 150 model has 32in. travel distance. All models are powered by a motor-in-roller design and they all feature a stabilizing arm that can be used for cable management. Numerous accessories include closure panels, finishing kits, ceiling access door, plenum housing, and other items to help customize the installation and match room décor. They can also be used to recess speakers and other AV gear.

Epson Installation Frame for Pro Z Projectors

Epson mount frames, like the Installation Frame for PowerLite Pro Z projectors, offer outstanding functionality and ease of use. The frames protect compatible Pro Z projectors during transportation and make them easier and safer to handle during mounting. The mount frame has built-in, 3-axis adjustments for installation onto a truss structure, and adjustable feet are included for quick and easy setup atop any platform. There are currently nine Epson projector models that fit the installation frame. It provides easy installation for rental and staging applications, as well as a new stackable design for easy setup with a professional and robust look.

Ergotron OmniMount DCM250

Ergotron OmniMount RE42

Ergotron’s OmniMount DCM250 is an industrial-grade, two-panel ceiling mount for arranging back to back monitor displays using its pinned tilt feature for achieving the precise tilt angle required. Capable of portrait or landscape orientation, the DCM250 includes two universal adapters, a ceiling plate, and Grade 5 hardware kit. The mechanism fits most flatscreens from 32in. to 65in. and it can support up to 250lbs. Also from Ergotron OmniMount, the RE42 is a fully assembled enclosed rack system of heavy gauge steel construction that includes pre-assembled cooling fans, removable side panels, and a lockable tempered glass left- or right-hinged door.

Extron UTM

Extron understands that not all hardware goes only in a rack. For those situations where the gear needs to be close by and instantly accessible, there is the UTM100 Series under table mounts for 1RU and 2RU full rack width items. The self-supporting mount attaches directly to the underside of furniture to bring control right to the fingertips of the user while providing a small air gap for ventilation. It can support up to 30lbs. and is available in a gray powder coat finish.

Installers Choice RX3

How much floor space has been lost to making sure that tech people can get behind racks and open the rear doors? Installer’s Choice has the solution for that with its RX3 rotating rack. It pulls out from closets and recessed walls to allow complete access from the front and it locks into place at 60 and 90 degrees. The rack includes cable lacing bars and it can be ordered in 12, 16, 21, 24, 28, and 30 RU versions in depths of 19in. and 23in. The unit comes with a black powder coat finish and it has a static load rating of 400lbs.

Lowell Manufacturing LWTCR3S

Lowell Manufacturing provides a solution for wall rack mounting with the LWTCR Series tilt wall rack. Amplifiers, small mixers, or consumer electronics can be installed to be quickly accessible using the rack’s oil-filled dampers to ease the foldout. The 3RU space can be adjusted with the seven-position mounting rails. Controls can be mounted in the top compartment while cable can enter through conduit knockouts. The racks are available in recessed and surface mount models. Accessories include a four-step AC power sequencer and an installable thumb latch.

Middle Atlantic FlexView

The new FlexView Series monitor mounts from Middle Atlantic are designed for corporate, hospitality, and education industries with mounting capability for monitors up to 90in. and either manual or electric height variability. The mounts can be used in fixed setups with its base levelers or mobile configurations using heavy duty casters. The Lever Lock system allows mounting for small components and the locking access door lets tech people get to the business end of the monitors quickly and easily. There is also an internal accessory basket for remotes and other small tools.

Peerless SmartMount DS-MBZ642L

Peerless offers a solution for wall-mounted digital menu boards with its new SmartMount line to fit 40in. to 47in. displays and provide a continuous mounting surface for multiple monitors. Using an adapter kit, they can also be ceiling mounted. The mounts have eight points of tool-less fine tuning adjustment. As do all the models in the line, the DS-MBZ642L includes a kickstand feature that holds the bottom of the monitor out from the wall during installation. Portrait orientation models are also available and the mounts include security hardware. After installation, adjustments assure that all displays are matched in alignment. Also in the SmartMount line are the DS-MBZ647L and the DS-MBZ647P (portrait).

Premier Mounts CTMMS2

For tilt-mounting large displays, Premier Mounts provides the answer with the CTM-MS2 and its 12 degrees of continuous tilt, multiple height settings, built-in lateral shift, and its patented Gridplate. The mount fits most 37in. and larger displays, and can be used for stand, wall, or ceiling mount installations. In stand mounting applications, the sturdy TS-Base provides a firm anchor point for a variety of pole lengths to be used in PSD-TS floor stand configurations, and can be used to replace a lost base for the PSD-TS series pole stands for single monitor displays. The two handled TL-Base is a lighter weight option designed for PSD-TL floor stands and, like its TS counterpart, is constructed of heavy steel for solid support. Up to four TS or TL bases can be easily transported on the PSD-MTC Mobile Transport Cart along with its corresponding poles, mounts, and adapters.

Rose Electronics RackView High Res

Rose Electronics RackView series features several smart and compact KVM stations mounted in equipment racks for controlling everything from KVM switches to servers. The units are housed in mountable sliding 1U durable drawers that fit into any standard rack, making them excellent for situations in which space is at a premium. RackView High Res is its premier rack drawer, with resolutions of up to 1920×1200 and supports both DVI and VGA. It is a unique product with the option to consolidate an 8-port KVM switch and KVM user station into one unit. All RackViews include sliding rails, folding, and locking mechanisms to ensure easy access while in use, and keep the keyboard and screen from blocking access to rack equipment when the console is closed.

The Strong Evolve Hybrid Rack System from SnapAV can expand to accommodate equipment additions with snap-in shelves and threaded mounting locations for lace-bars, power products, and other rack-mountable equipment. Featuring toolless assembly, the rack is erected in seconds and secured with hand-tightened thumb screws. SnapAV also offers the Strong VersaMount in-wall single arm articulating mount for 26in. to 60in. flatpanel TVs. It provides 14in. of mount arm extension and included are TV mounting plates to accommodate VESA patterns from 100×100 to 400x 400. The mount’s arm includes holes for cable management. Its specially designed knockout allows addition of the Compact Wattbox for powering the mounted gear.

Included in the Spectrum Industries Freedom One Sit-to-Stand Lectern is an 18RU standalone rack cabinet that can be mobile for added flexibility. The rack unit height is designed to serve both sitting and standing users next to the lectern and it is available as a stand-alone rack. It has audience-side and optional instructor-side locking doors and it features both front and rear mounting rails. Spectrum also offers the (FPM) Flat Panel Monitor Arm in light, medium, and heavy models with both single monitor and double monitor versions available. It has 16in. of vertical range and can extend up to 24in. The arm folds into just 3in. of space and it can pivot 90 degrees from landscape to portrait. Available as an option, the Busby USB Retrofit Kit adds connectivity at the arm base for up to four powered USB 2.0 devices.

Vaddio Production-VIEW-Rack-Enclosure

The ProductionVIEW Rack Enclosure from Vaddio is a dual-bay system featuring an upper bay with eight rack spaces and a 5RU lower bay. Switchers and other gear with operator controls can be mounted on a sliding drawer allowing it to be stowed inside the rack and pulled out only during operation while the upper slant top section can house control equipment and video monitors. The back panel of the powder-coat finished heavy gauge aluminum unit includes wire tie slots. Holes allow for mounting the rack to a table top and for attaching rack units to each other.

VFI MWC84 Mobile Wall Cart

Video Furniture International provides a solution for mobile flatpanel display mounting and associated storage with the Model MWC84 Mobile Wall Cart. The unit takes just about any wall-mounted display and allows it to roll around on 5in. heavy duty ball bearing casters to where it is needed. The lower storage space has shelves and it can accept a drop-in 8RU rack along with two 120mm fans. It is finished in melamine furniture grade laminate and the unit includes cable management running from the upper monitor mount surface to the storage space below. Accessories include a codec shelf, camera bracket, lacing bar, and a six-outlet power strip with a 10ft. cord.

Video Mount Products FPXMLPAB

The FP-XMLPAB Extra-Medium Low-Profile Flatpanel Articulating Mount is designed by Video Mount Products as a low-profile wall mount for larger displays. When folded, it extends out from the wall only 1.5in. and fully extended it can reach out to 16.2in. Capable of 15 degrees of tilt, the mount can swivel 45 degrees toward either side and correct for list by 3 degrees. The unit can accommodate 32in. to 52in. displays and includes integrated cable management and level, a load capacity of 100lbs., and it can accept padlocks. The FP-XMLPAB can be used with the company’s Wall Mount Electronic Component Shelf or the Wall Mount Electronic Component Holder.
