As the consumer market continues to gain comfort and familiarity with screens and all they’re capable of, the commercial market must adapt and grow to better serve IT and AV managers at a host of venues who expect intuitive, responsive systems similar to the ones they carry in their pockets for personal use. When it comes to live capture situations, this has translated to plug-and-play connectivity, increased automation, faster frame rates, and more — and we can only anticipate more of the same on the horizon.

The 1 Beyond AutoFramer is a PTZ IP camera that automatically adjusts for ideal framing of the people in the room, eliminating empty space and improving the viewer’s experience. It automatically pans, tilts, and zooms for best framing of the people in the room, while also detecting the number and location of people in the room to frame them accordingly for a better viewer experience. When people move about the room, it automatically pans, tilts, and zooms to adjust the framing — no one needs to press presets or manually move the camera. Everything needed is in the camera, requiring no IR sensors or extra appliances. Just connect the camera to any capture device via USB, HDMI or HD-SDI.

The Atlona AT-HDVS-CAM is an enterprise-grade PTZ camera designed for use with the company’s AT-UHD-HDVS-300-KIT soft codec conferencing solution. Delivering professional-quality imaging while streamlining integration for software-based conferencing systems, the HDVS-CAM is available on its own for adding to existing HDVS-300-KIT installations, or bundled in a complete HDVS300 system package as the AT-UHD-HDVS300-C-KIT. Kramer KDS-EN6 encoder provides streaming over an IP network that carries 4K at 60Hz (4:2:0) video, audio, IR, RS-232, USB over IP with HDCP 2.2 in unicast (one-to-one) or multicast. It is part of Kramer’s end-to-end AV-over-IP range designed for IT. Designed to be a highly-scaleable and cost-effective way to build any size AV distribution system on and existing IP network. The encoder (and its companion decoder) support 4K60 4:2:0 MJPEG video/audio with built in scaling and control signaling for RS-232, IR and USB; the products are PoE capable and HDCP 2.2 compliant. A simple virtual matrix GUI provides a familiar and intuitive configuration and management tool for applications in education, entertainment, digital signage, medical, and military and for centralized or distributed control. End users can also access local control of any video and audio device, collaboration system, HVAC, shades, etc via any iOS or Android device or a Kramer touch control panel.

The CV502-U3 high-definition USB POV camera from Marshall Electronics offers the connectivity, performance, and reliability required for huddle rooms and web streaming applications with professional adjustment settings, interchangeable lenses, and secure mounting options. Designed for simple plug-and-play connectivity on any Mac, PC, or Linux system supporting USB 3.0 input infrastructure, the CV502-U3 uses video capture drivers included with common computer software and soft codecs. Through the use of UVC 1.5, common teleconference and video capture programs can adapt best resolution and frame rate for optimal performance. The CV502-U3 delivers up to 1920 x 1080p resolution at 60/59.94/50 frame rates. With a very low 0.2 lux (color) rating, the CV502-U3 captures accurate, sharp color images even under low-light conditions. The CV502-U3 ships with an ultra-wide 2.3mm 126-degree Angle-of-View HD lens that is interchangeable to customize for specific applications.

The Matrox Maevex 6150 Quad 4K enterprise encoder appliance is a plug-and-play quad 4K encoding appliance, offering system independence and eliminating the need for additional encoding equipment. Maevex 6150 users benefit from up to quad 4K/UHD simultaneous streaming and recording, as well as 4:4:4 sub-sampling support—allowing transmission of numerous streams of video and desktop content over 1Gb networks. Built on the open H.264 standard, Maevex 6150 is compatible with the full Maevex series of products and all third-party devices, computers, and networks. Matrox offers enhanced integration of the Matrox Monarch LCS with the Kaltura Lecture Capture system and broader Kaltura Video Platform. Available as part of a Monarch LCS firmware update, college and university IT managers have greater freedom to integrate budget-friendly, stress-free lecture recording in even more classrooms. From the Monarch LCS Command Centre, users can now directly add their Monarch devices to their network of Kaltura managed classrooms. Immediately, the Monarch device is available for scheduling and management from the Kaltura Lecture Capture interface, tying together scheduling and publication of materials to the relevant viewers. The Kaltura platform also provides a dedicated multi-stream player, ideal for playing two synchronized video files, such as those captured by the Monarch LCS.

The multiCAM Systems integrated IP interface supports a greater number of cameras than is traditionally available through SDI capture cards. The IP functionality also reduces the size and cost of the central server, as all video streams and PTZ camera control are managed over the network without the need for special IT equipment. Customers retain the flexibility to use IP or SDI for each input to support mixed camera environments. The new IP interface is ideal within classrooms, corporate AV environments, and theaters/auditoriums to produce and stream lectures, presentations, and live events. The number of cameras supported via the IP interface feature is limited only by network and bandwidth limitations. multiCAM Systems’ standard SDI-equipped configurations offer up to 5 SDI inputs, while the new IP support enables radio stations or conference halls to use many more cameras throughout multiple rooms without the need for additional hardware.

QSC’s Q-SYS platform is an AV-to-USB bridging solution that includes the Q-SYS I/O-USB Bridge and two PTZ-IP Conferencing cameras: the Q-SYS PTZ-12X72 and Q-SYS PTZ-20X60. The new Q-SYS PTZ-IP Cameras and Q-SYS I/O-USB Bridge will solve the problem of the meeting room geography when integrating soft codec conferencing with camera feeds and audio by introducing IP-based cameras and USB bridge into the Q-SYS platform. The solution fully integrates with the Q-SYS platform and leverages driverless USB 2.0 for webcam video emulation and AEC speakerphone audio. It allows for BYOD at the conference room table while also allowing the in-room PC at the rack to bridge without doubling (or more) the hardware solution. As a single software platform and IP-based hardware solution, it means less time training on how to use the platform.

Roland Professional A/V’s V-60HD is a compact, integrated video switcher and audio mixer that supports SDI camera inputs plus scaled HDMI inputs for data, computer, tablet, and other video sources via a variety of video connections, plus a Program and independent AUX bus for confidence, downstage monitor or side screens. The V-60HD also offers advanced audio functionality including multi-channel embedded audio, XLR/ TRS and RCA analog inputs, and multichannel embedded audio to two SDI outputs, plus comprehensive dynamics and auto-mixing.The V-60HD supports six video channels from a variety of inputs, including 3G-SDI, HDMI, and RGB sources with scaling on HDMI and RGB inputs to support both video and VESA resolutions from 480i up to WUXGA. With no limitations to the number of inputs and outputs or the type of connection, the Tekvox TekFlex-32 matrix switcher gives users the power to pick the input and output cards they need and plug them into whatever slot they choose. Now, their options have expanded with the addition of 4K HDBaseT and audio cards for the unit. The new 4K HDBaseT cards support 100m (330ft.) distance. TekFlex-32 comes with 24 card slots with flexible input/output combinations and eight fixed output card slots. Comprehensive signal card compatibility includes HDMI, DVI, SDI, VGA, and HDBaseT. The switcher offers powerful EDID management, a web-based GUI, and controllable front panel buttons (IR, RS232, and TCP/IP).

Tekvox’s ViewVault is a self-contained, ceiling-mounted AV recording system that operates autonomously based on scheduled, motion-triggered, or hybrid recording modes. It archives the most recent six months of digitally encrypted recordings on its internal media. It can also record audio-only for attached bathrooms or other enclosed spaces of protected spaces. The system is configured prior to shipment and is placed discreetly in the ceiling tile grid with included camera, additional microphones as required, and mounting accessories. Only a single electrical connection is required. ViewVault automatically goes into operation when powered; no human intervention is needed for full S.B. 507-compliance. ViewVault electronics are both physically and electronically secure. They are physically locked in a rugged metal enclosure and password-protected to prevent unauthorized tampering. ViewVault can be connected to the campus network via Ethernet or WiFi for remote management, realtime streaming or ad-hoc retrieval of stored content. In normal operation, ViewVault uses negligible network bandwidth or resources. ViewVault’s powerful and flexible recording modes include individual weekly schedules, master schedules, record-on-motion, and hybrid modes that combine on-hours scheduled record with off-hours motion recording. This “set and forget” system requires very little support and no drain on IT resources.

The Vaddio ConferenceSHOT FX fixed USB camera is an enterprise-level camera that plugs into a USB port and works with major UCC soft-clients. The ConferenceSHOT FX has an extra-wide 88-degree field of view to capture everyone in a meeting room, and its USB 3.0 output sends uncompressed, high resolution video over USB and is capable of 1080p/60fps for the smoothest video available. The Vaddio OneLINK Bridge AV Interface is a crossover appliance that combines a camera extension system with an audio mixer, creating a USB bridge that connects professional AV sources to PCs, all in a single device. It allows end users to convert an audio/video source from any PTZ camera or AV switcher into a USB 3.0 media stream and easily use applications like Skype for Business, Google Hangouts, WebEx, and Zoom. OneLINK Bridge uses HDBaseT technology to extend power, control, and video from Vaddio RoboSHOT Cameras, third party PTZ cameras, and compatible HDBaseT AV switchers up to 100m (328ft.) over a single HDBaseT Cat-5e/6 cable. It includes HDMI and HD-SDI outputs, two mic line inputs with echo cancellation, two line outputs, and associated digital audio channels. It also provides a composite USB stream with 1080p/60 video and stereo 48kHz audio to ensure optimal quality of content.

Vinten’s Vantage is a compact and lightweight robotic camera head that offers flexibility and broadcast-quality movement and control at the same price point as a traditional pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera head.
