At ISE in February, AJA Video Systemsintroduced RovoCam, the company’s first compact block camera for industrial, corporate, security, ProAV and broad- cast applications. Built in collaboration with Sony, it utilizes Sony’s 4K FCB- ER8300 Functional Camera Block, with its back-illuminated CMOS sensor (1/2.3. type 8.9 megapixel). The 4K camera has built-in 12x optical and up to 20x zoom with Sony Super Resolution Zoom. AJA brings its integrated HDBaseT interface, which supports uncompressed video, power, stereo audio, and RS-232 over a single CAT 5e/6 cable up to 100 meters at UltraHD and HD resolutions. AJA’s companion RovoRX-HDMI receiver allows for simple integration of an HDMI output; RovoCam is also compatible with select third party receivers. The camera is built into a lightweight aluminum case with standard mounting options on either side, and is compatible with Sony’s SNCUNIHB/1 outdoor housing.

PTZ cameras can also shine outside the realm of security, and theAxis Communications V59 Seriesis a great example of the versatility in AV production that these units can offer. Designed to stream and broadcast video and sound in a variety of applications, the V59 Series combines a 30x optical zoom with autofocus, two-way stereo sound, and a maximum resolution of 1920×1080 on the V5915 (1280×720 on the V5914). Both models offer wide dynamic range and the capability to produce images in very low light levels. Each transmits audio and includes SDI and HDMI video. The pan/tilt movement is extra smooth so that live, on-air camera moves can be made without any jerkiness or shaking. The cameras have a professional connector panel that includes two balanced audio XLR inputs with phantom power, a balanced mono input, and an unbalanced 3.5mm audio output.

Designed for live video production, Blackmagic Design’s Micro Studio Camera 4Kincludes an expansion port that features PTZ output allowing remote control of pan/tilt heads, and broadcast lenses all from a single SDI connection. The camera is an HD and Ultra HD live studio camera that can be remote controlled via SDI. It includes 6G-SDI, built- in color corrector, talkback, tally, PTZ control, MFT lens mount, B4 lens control output, and is fully controllable from Blackmagic’s ATEM switchers. PTZ communication uses the proven and reliable RS-485 protocol. Pan, tilt, and zoom commands can be sent from an ATEM switcher over SDI to the camera. Servo lenses are smoothly zoomed directly from the camera, while the pan, tilt, and zoom commands are also sent from the expansion port’s PTZ output to a compatible motorized head. It can also be used in the studio by rigging it with a professional broadcast lens and a Blackmagic Video Assist for monitoring.

The new Panasonic AeroPTZnetwork camera was first shown at ISC West 2016 and it provides reliable and sustainable operation for mission-critical applications even under severe weather conditions. The highly durable 360-degree aerodynamic spherical design minimizes interference drag for more visual stability and enables the camera to perform even in extreme conditions such as high- gust winds, salty winds, and arctic-to-desert weather conditions with a special glass-fiber lightweight body. The camera’s imaging system produces full HD images and it features a Video SAS (Stability Augment System) for high-class image stabilization, high-wind load durability (approximately 134mph) and optional IR LED light for clear images in low-light to no-light environments.

Optera with SureVision 2.0 provides what Pelcorefers to as the Optera Panomersive Experience with a wide scene view, any part of which can be instantly detailed through pan, tilt, and zoom for much closer examination. It does this through optimization and seamless stitching of four sensors along with client-side de-warping. Using Anti-Bloom technology and proprietary image processing, the Optera line of cameras produces clear images in very low light at up to 12 megapixel resolution. Sure- Vision 2.0 enhances traditional noise filtering technology by incorporating spatial noise reduction (SNR) using information from previous frames to calculate and form a model to remove noise from the current frame without critical scene detail degradation. The Optera line includes the Optera 360 ̊ for wide open areas, the Optera 270 ̊ for corner areas, and the Optera 180 ̊ for installation on walls and hallways.

Samsung’s SNP-6320RH Spider Camera features a high-performance 32x optical zoom lens(4.4~140.8mm focal range) and infrared LED illuminator to clearly capture precision details at distances up to 492ft. in lighting levels as low as 0 lux. The camera’s 16x digital zoom provides a combined optical and digital zoom capability of 512x. Conventional cameras often produce unsatisfactory results when used in environments illuminated by both infrared and conventional lighting sources, and deliver images that appear unfocused or feature light bleeding. The SNP-6320RH Spider Camera eliminates these aberrations with enhanced optics and image processing to capture sharp, focused images even under these conditions. The imaging system provides a resolution of 1080p@60fps and there is auto-tracking and digital image stabilization. Additional features include D/SDHC/ SDXC memory slot and bi-directional audio support.
