ARCHI-TECH Names Lencore Acoustics Corp. Top Award Winner — Lencore voted a Readers‘ Choice Awards Grand Prize Winner

December 2008 – (Woodbury, New York)— ARCHI-TECH awarded Lencore with its 2008 Readers’ Choice Grand Prize Award in ‘Sustainability’ for Lencore’s Spectra i.Netâ„¢ networked sound masking system. The award was based on input from readers of ARCHI-TECH magazine and by visitors who logged on to architechmag.com to cast their votes.

“Specifying technology products in commercial buildings is the job of ARCHI-TECH’s audience. The winners of our Readers’ Choice Awards program should be particularly gratified that their products won the attention of this influential community,”? said ARCHI-TECH publisher Jim Forthofer.

The Readers’ Choice Awards feature the most innovative technology products in the commercial buildings market today. Product entries, submitted by manufacturers, are applicable to commercial facilities in the areas of audio/video, building controls, glass and glazing, HVAC, lighting, security, and sustainable technology. Votes were solicited from ARCHI-TECH’s subscriber base of architects, who influence the incorporation of technology products and systems in commercial buildings.

SUSTAINABILITY FEATURES

Lencore’s offers an award winning sound masking systems that are UL Listed and energy efficient.

Lencore’s networked system, Spectra i.Netâ„¢ is UL listed for use in air-handling spaces; provides full 1/3rd octave band or parametric band control; and is designed as a non-proprietary, open platform system for user confidence and network security.

The system is manufactured in the U.S. within strict environmental guidelines and high levels of recycled content using over 50% recycled aluminum.

The networked capabilities of the system enable on-going system changes to be handled through the system’s web interface and reduce or eliminate the need for additional wiring and cabling in the ceiling, significantly reducing construction waste.

The Lencore system is environmentally friendly and digitally engineered to provide an unobtrusive and comfortable sound. The pleasant and uniform introduction of sound masking into office spaces contributes positively to the overall environment. Studies show that when office noise is reduced, worker satisfaction increases and stress levels are reduced. Lencore offers speech privacy, acoustical comfort, increased productivity and greater efficiency. Requiring no on-going maintenance, the Lencore system has a 20+ year life expectancy.

LEED and Acoustics

The Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design with the help of other industry organizations has accepted an intended standard for acoustics in healthcare that allows for the provision of two LEED points for acoustics.

“It is important to note that LEED buildings can be quieter than standard buildings as there are typically more hard (cleanable) surfaces within the space, the workstation height is lowered to allow for more natural light, and the HVAC systems that typically provide a certain level of unstructured background noise, are more quiet. These factors contribute to an overall reduction in the ambient background sound and will further support the need to incorporate a background sound masking system like Spectra i.Netâ„¢”?, says Michael Polan, Lencore’s Director of sales

APPLICATIONS

Lencore sound masking systems are custom designed to fit a variety of site conditions and applications and is used in open and closed plan offices with or without ceiling tiles. Lencore’s Spectra i.Netâ„¢ sound masking is used in office, healthcare, financial, government, legal, military and call center environments. Lencore’s system is applicable for new construction, retrofits, and designed to meet all local codes. Lencore’s superior paging capabilities can be used as an all call or zone paging or both and wherever life safety issues are of concern.

The ability of the system to offer the duality of sound masking and paging enables the end user to benefit from two systems for the virtually the cost of one and eliminates the need for a secondary paging system, saving client tie and money.

The award winning Lencore product is featured in the December 2008 issue of ARCHI-TECH magazine and will remain on architechmag.com until June 2009.
