EMERYVILLE, CALIF. – Advanced Systems Group (ASG), a leading data, video, audio and film integration firm, will cohost a free seminar on virtual reality technologies with AbelCine and Quantum on July 21 from 6-9 p.m. at AbelCine’s offices in Burbank. Produced exclusively for the Los Angeles market, “Virtual Reality – Hot Trends Now and What’s Coming in the Future” will provide an overview of current VR equipment and established workflows, as well as a look ahead to VR technologies in development.

The seminar program includes feature presentations and a panel discussion from industry experts, including Lucas Wilson, executive producer of PURE McCartney VR, the six-part documentary series that debuted in May. Other speakers include Andy Shipsides, CTO of AbelCine, Ceri Thomas, applications engineer for Dolby, and Dave Van Hoy, president of ASG. Quantum’s David Carpenter and ASG’s Kurtis Ewing will host the evening and moderate the panel.

“There’s no doubt VR technologies have captured the imaginations of today’s sophisticated media consumers,” explained Van Hoy. “Our seminar will provide information and networking opportunities to help L.A. video professionals get started in VR.”
