Cresskill, NJ – August 16, 2024 – At CEDIA Expo 2024, Bond (booth #4109) will unveil Firefly One to the channel. Firefly One is an IP67-rated, 12VDC in-line Wi-Fi smart controller that brings convenience to non-smart low-voltage outdoor white LED lighting systems.
With Firefly One, users can adjust and fine-tune lighting system brightness levels (including light temperature when available), set schedules, and even set-up and view the status of different zones right from the Bond Home App.
The dimmer is compatible with all popular virtual assistants like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and more, and home automation systems.
“Firefly One takes 12 VDC power in (requires a separate transformer) and then gives a dimmed/switched 12 VDC output with Wi-Fi control. It is a very simple product, but it unlocks a full outdoor experience,” says Bond Home Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Chris Merck.
“The main advantage is that Firefly One is native to the Bond platform, so now installers/users can bring an entire outdoor space—including lighting—into a single app that is local-first and closest to the devices being operated,” furthered Merck.
Firefly One integrates built-in proprietary Bond WiFi and is compatible with 2.4 GHz WiFi home systems. It can be used in conjunction with Bond’s Sidekick for Shades flush mount wireless keypad to achieve lighting control from the keypad (requires the RF-to-WiFi Bond Bridge Pro). With this Firefly One can be brought into Bond Scenes, creating a cohesive system with few external dependencies.
“Firefly One — like other Bond products — also contains a local astronomical clock so that schedules can run independently of a control system, which can be helpful either in simpler installations or cases where the dealer prefers to have a more autonomous and distributed installation with less centralization of control. Firefly One supports the Bond Local API and so works great with central control systems as dealers have come to expect from us,” added Merck.
Firefly One is a key component in Bond’s expansion into the outdoors. This includes the brand’s just released Breeze Pro wind/rain/sunlight smart sensor and new outdoor shading and pergola louver manufacturer partnerships.
Firefly One is shipping now. MSRP is set at $149. This consists of the control unit. A 12VDC power source and wood mount (optional) are sold separately.
