Crystal Vision shows new chroma keyer and other IP/SDI video processing solutions at CABSAT 2022 (Booth 504)

M-SAFIRE chroma keyer

At CABSAT 2022 Crystal Vision – co-exhibiting with distributor Ariston FZC on Booth 504 – will be showing the latest best-of-breed IP/SDI video processing software apps for its MARBLE media processor hardware. The functionality offered by these apps includes chroma keying, linear keying, video delay, profanity delay, color correction, legalizing, picture-in-picture and fail-safe switching. The apps can work with IP (ST 2022/2110), with SDI or with both IP and SDI at the same time – making them perfect for mixed SDI and IP installations as well as fully IP or fully SDI environments. Crystal Vision will also be discussing with CABSAT visitors how the software-based MARBLE platform makes it easy to create custom products to solve problems using SDI or IP video.

Chroma keyers have traditionally been Crystal Vision’s best-selling products in the Middle East and visitors to Booth 504 will have the opportunity to try out Crystal Vision’s latest real-time chroma keyer. The M-SAFIRE software app is the industry’s first IP chroma keyer which can also be used with SDI, or with both IP and SDI simultaneously for hybrid systems. The M-SAFIRE offers Crystal Vision’s best picture quality to date, with a noise-free key as well as numerous tools to optimize the picture including advanced clip processing, color correction, edge shrink, color spill processing, lighting compensation and shadow processing. The M-SAFIRE’s two quad split multiviewers facilitate setup by allowing four of the processing stage signals to be viewed simultaneously along with the ability to zoom into any area. The key can be faded up and down, while internal and external masks can be used to force areas of foreground or background – making it easy to linear key a logo or add virtual objects or sports graphics. The M-SAFIRE offers enhanced system timing features, including reference redundancy, PTP as a timing source option and up to ten frames of delay on both the input and output.

Video delays have also always been popular with Crystal Vision’s Middle East customers and CABSAT visitors will have the opportunity to see five new video delay apps. Designed to match any equipment with a processing delay, the M-VIVID range can work with IP, SDI or both IP and SDI at the same time and provide up to 32 seconds of video delay. Broadcast engineers can select a version with the required number of channels and the required amount of delay: the triple channel M-VIVID100-3 with 100 frames of video delay per channel, the dual channel M-VIVID200-2 with 200 frames per channel, the dual channel M-VIVID400-2 with 400 frames per channel or the single channel M-VIVID800 for 800 frames of delay. The M-CLEANIT profanity delay app, meanwhile, is designed to prevent the broadcast of unwanted or offensive video or audio material. To give the operator time to react, the M-CLEANIT allows an IP or SDI live content stream to be delayed by up to 600 frames (24 seconds in 1080i50), with the cover options including clean switching to two different video sources or a web page, blurring the video, showing black or blue or color bars, muting individual audio channels and switching to another audio source.

Routing switches are another popular product among Crystal Vision’s Middle East customers and visitors to Booth 504 will be able to see a fail-safe routing switch that works with both IP and SDI. Providing two independent 2 x 1 clean switches, the M-SAFESWITCH-2 is ideal for planned maintenance switches to manually re-route a good signal around broken equipment or for use as a very sophisticated auto changeover switch. It gives the option of selecting from ten different fault conditions to automatically trigger the switch: input missing, input video standard incorrect, active video black, active video frozen, video error, network error, audio all selected missing, audio any selected missing, audio all selected silent and audio any selected silent. The M-SAFESWITCH-2 can correct for any timing difference between the two inputs – resulting in no disruption to the output picture when a switch takes place. As well as a framestore synchronizer on each flow, it can delay the earliest arriving input by up to ten frames – while Source B can also be delayed by an additional 60 frames for when Source A is subjected to a long delay, such as from a graphics system.

Other Crystal Vision software apps being shown on Booth 504 include the M-KEY IP/SDI linear keyer, the M-WEBKEY IP/SDI web page keyer, the M-PIP IP/SDI picture-in-picture device and the M-COCO-2 IP/SDI color corrector and legalizer.

Based at Whittlesford near Cambridge in the UK and with an office in the USA, Crystal Vision provides a full range of interface and keyers and helps people transition through a range of technologies – from SD to HD, from HD to IP and from IP to IP.
