Discover Video today announced DV-Mantis ™, a small streaming video appliance that supports all popular video input types. The new appliance supports built-in HDMI, SDI, DVI, VGA, Component and Composite video inputs, making it the ideal universal HD encoder. DV-Mantis is a component of the Discover Video DEVOS Visual Communications Platform and is also a stand-alone encoder that can be used with popular CDN’s and streaming services.
“This is the ideal encoder” said Rich Mavrogeanes, Discover Video CEO. “While encoders have become commodity, there is a real need to support all popular input sources without needing a box full of adapters.” The new DV-Mantis encoder supports streaming at rates from 1 Mbps to 10 Mbps, and HD resolution up to 1080.
In addition to streaming live, the DV-Mantis can record the video and can automatically upload the just-recorded video. When used with the Discover Video ecosystem, the appliance can be automatically configured and controlled. For stand-alone use, the appliance sports simply front panel buttons allowing the user to start and stop streaming and recording, and can select video inputs.
Discover Video also provides a DV-Mantis rackmount shelf. It is a complete system for mounting up to six Discover Video DV-MANTIS encoders in a compact 19” rack. The 8.5” deep, 6” high (4 RU) shelf provides power distribution to each DV-MANTIS encoder so that you require only one AC outlet.
DV-Mantis is priced at $1,395 and is available now.
