Gefen Unveils New GAVA 3.0 Firmware Upgrade, Offering Advanced Automation Features for Conference Room and Commercial Applications Featuring Lutron Lighting Systems

ӬӬThe next generation GAVA (Gefen A/V Automation) 3.0 firmware will be shown for the first time at InfoComm, delivering more features that further simplify and enhance the automation of A/V devices and lighting in conference rooms, meeting spaces and training rooms. GAVA centralizes the control of all connected devices into a web-based interface that can be accessed at anytime using a smartphone, tablet or computer. ӬӬ

”¨As part of the new Conference Room Package, GAVA uses an existing LAN, allowing an easy integration of both mobile and traditional A/V devices connected to the network. The package includes the award-winning GAVA, Gefen’s Professional Automation Control System (PACS), Gefen’s 4×1 AV Processor with Amp, the AV Scaler Pro, and two GefenTV Conference Room Speakers. With the inclusion of the Lutron GRAFIKA® Eye QSE, this package allows customizable and repeatable lighting scenarios, all automated by the integrator. In the EMEA, the package includes an 8-channel DALI-interface Grafik Eye QS. In the US, the package includes a Grafik Eye QS with 6-channels of phase-control dimmers. The QSE Interface allows Ethernet or RS-232 control of the Grafik Eye QS without requiring Lutron RadioRA2 or HomeWorks certification or software.”¨”¨

“One of the best features of this new free firmware upgrade is the addition of ‘event triggers’ that truly automate all aspects of the Conference Room Package,” said Orrin Charm, Automation Project Manager, Gefen. “These triggers happen behind the scenes and are totally customizable. For instance, you can program a ‘Watch Video’ trigger that, when you push the ‘Watch Video’ button on a mobile device, an in-wall Lutron RadioRA2 or a HomeWorks keypad, you immediately dim the lights, turn on the display, the entire A/V system, and lower the screen and window shades, providing you with a “one-touch” operation.”

Integrators also have the option to allow or restrict user access to the GAVA setup Wizard. Other new features include better organization of macros, assignment of macros to other GAVA buttons, and the ability to send IP or RS-232 strings from a macro without needing a Device Driver, UDP support and more. Ӭ

“Another value-added feature is the new password-protection option in GAVA,” said Charm. “Now you can create multiple secure views for different users. For example, you could design a password-protected view of a suite of conference rooms that only authorized users can access, and then you could design a simpler view of each room that all your employees can access. It opens up a lot more possibilities for both the integrator and the end user.”

The new GAVA Conference Room Package connects all A/V components using IP, IR or RS-232. GAVA provides the unifying GUI interface using an integrated HTML5 Web server and Linux processor, allowing any mobile device access to everything connected in the package. PACS is a bridge product that connects legacy devices using IR and RS-232 into the system. The 4×1 AV Processor provides additional HDMI inputs with quality audio decoding. Audio from the HDMI, coaxial, optical or stereo inputs is decoded by a 5.1 channel DolbyA® Digital and DolbyA® ProLogic II Surround processor. Audio can be amplified using built-in 50 watts per channel amplification or by connecting an external amplifier. When a discrete digital or analog audio input is selected, the video continues to output 1080p full HD, allowing you to watch video from the source while listening to a different audio selection. The AV Scaler Pro allows you to incorporate legacy (VGA, DVI, component and HDMI) devices with upscaling while the GefenTV speakers output nice, high quality sound.

Automation for lighting and window shades is fully supported using the Lutron GRAFIK Eye QS, which allows for complete customization of lights and shades via RS-232 or the Ethernet. The Lutron GRAFIK Eye QS is energy-efficient and can control of up to six or eight zones of lighting. LED, fluorescent and halogen lights are all supported as well as fixtures that are Lutron EcoSystemA® compatible. ”¨”¨All components of the GAVA Conference Room Package are controllable using any web browser, or with free updated GAVA iOS or Android 4.2 Apps, providing better system management, and a free demo mode for potential customers to see first-hand how GAVA works. ”¨”¨”¨
