Added Support for Microsoft Surface Hub in RPM Helps Customers Meet the Needs of Any Room Configuration or Budget

LAS VEGAS —AMX by HARMAN is announcing support for Microsoft Surface™ Hub within the AMX Rapid Project Maker® (RPM) cloud-based configuration tool. By enabling access to Microsoft Surface Hub within the industry-leading RPM configuration software, AV/IT technicians and support teams can easily use Microsoft Surface Hub with AMX’s wide range of control and switching devices without the need for any custom programming.

“Surface Hub is an excellent collaboration solution for meeting rooms,” says Shaun Robinson, Director, CEG Solutions and Marketing, HARMAN Professional Solutions. “In many cases organizations require some traditional meeting space functionality such as multiple laptop inputs and control of existing AV sources and devices. AMX RPM now offers a way to provide that support in an economical, easy-to-deploy and scalable manner.” With the cloud-based tool, users can configure access to Microsoft Surface Hub using the variety of RPM-compatible control options in a matter of minutes, making RPM a simple and fast method to access Surface Hub.

By adding support for Microsoft Surface Hub as an RPM-compatible device, users have access to a variety of control and switching options depending on the needs of the customer and the budget. With the full range of AMX control surfaces also available within RPM, users can access Microsoft Surface Hub using AMX MyTurn Source Selector Buttons as well as AMX Massio ControlPads, Metreau Keypads, or Modero Touch Panels. A range of options for switching both installed AV devices and AMX HydraPort-connected laptops and mobile devices is also available. This includes 4K switching using AMX’s Solecis 4K Digital Switchers.

Since Microsoft Surface Hub and AMX’s scheduling solutions both tie into Microsoft Exchange, a customer can use AMX RoomBook® scheduling panels, Modero® S wall-mount panels with AMX Resource Management Suite® or the native Microsoft Surface Hub scheduling. “AMX’s breadth of options allows customers to select the control, switching and scheduling solution that meets their specific requirements,” said Paul Zielie, Enterprise Solutions Manager, HARMAN Professional Solutions. “RPM makes it possible to control any additional AV gear required without custom programming, rather than using only pre-determined devices. This provides customers with tremendous flexibility and scalability, along with the ability to have a consistent user experience across all rooms, whether that room has Microsoft Surface Hub installed or not.”

Support for Microsoft Surface Hub in AMX Rapid Project Maker is expected in September 2016.

HARMAN is demonstrating AMX support for Microsoft Surface Hub, including RPM, AMX Solecis switching and HydraPort connectivity solutions, at InfoComm 2016.
