AARHUS, Denmark — Underscoring its position as a leading manufacturer of lighting and visual effects solutions, HARMAN’s Martin Professional is committed to developing new optical solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their offerings. It is Martin’s innovations in optical components and lens systems that have enabled its fixtures to produce superior colors and quality of light.
Engineering Spectacles
Martin Professional has a long history of developing optical solutions by its team of in-house optical engineers located at its Denmark headquarters. For Martin, creating the perfect lens system is all about making the right decisions and ensuring the right mix of output, size, weight, robustness, performance and cost. “A lens is not just the curved piece of glass or plastic at the front of a fixture; to an engineer a lens is a system that attempts to collect and display light in a specific way,” said Markus Klüsener, Product Manager for Stage Lighting, Martin Professional. “You have to make compromises and every decision may potentially cause distortion or chromatic aberration or affect color rendering, color temperature, color uniformity and other performance parameters. In optics, there is no such things as the perfect product – only the perfect balance.”
Throughout its storied history, Martin has made significant investment in optics resulting in major successes such as the MAC 101, MAC Aura and MAC Viper family as well as a number of design patents. Some of Martin’s most recent innovations in optics include the MAC Aura™ XB, the MAC Quantum™ Wash and MAC Quantum™ Profile lens systems. These systems represent an increased focus on optical design and confirm Martin’s leading position in the field of optics.
MAC Quantum Wash and MAC Aura XB
The lens systems of the 750 W RGBW LED-based fixture, MAC Quantum Wash, and the compact MAC Aura XB wash light are both refinements of the patented and award-winning MAC Aura lens system. The system is known for its backlight, superior optical performance and the beautiful organic bubble design of the front lens.
MAC Quantum Profile
The MAC Quantum Profile is a LED-based profile light with a hard-edge lens system that simplifies the advanced lighting system of Martin’s award-winning MAC Viper family. The Quantum Profile contains a proprietary light engine to achieve maximum output and performance at the smallest possible footprint. The illumination part of the fixture also has a unique, patent-pending design with few optical components and fewer surfaces to attract dirt.
Martin invites lighting professionals from around the world to share pictures of the MAC Quantum™ Wash, MAC Quantum Profile™ and MAC Aura™ XB fixtures in action by using “#LensView” on social media.
