Mountain View, CA – Hybrik, Inc. today announced it has released a major update to its cloud media processing service that incorporates Digital Rights Management (DRM) features, including encryption and packaging. In addition to DRM support, the new version adds cloud-based previews, external script management, automated watch folders, and other new features.

The new features in Hybrik support all the major DRM schemes, including Apple FairPlay, Google Widevine, and Microsoft PlayReady. In addition, Hybrik supports both 128-AES and CENC encryption as part of the cloud workflow. DRM packaging may be done as part of a standard DASH or HLS transcoding workflow, or it may be added to pre-transcoded assets using Hybrik’s trans-wrapping capability. Hybrik can also integrate with popular key providers like BuyDRM and castLabs to create a fully automated service.
Additional new features improve Hybrik’s cloud media processing capabilities. Live previews allow users to instantly preview source and output files in the cloud without having to download them to a local machine, even files that would normally be impossible to preview over a standard web connection. For example, Hybrik can preview a 220Mbps ProRes file in the cloud by transcoding it on-the-fly to a lower bit rate version. Users can also select specific audio tracks for preview. This is critically important in feature film and television workflows, where source files are often archive-quality originals with multiple language audio tracks.
Hybrik’s new version has also added cloud watch folders, which simplify cloud automation. Files that are uploaded to the cloud can be automatically transcoded to multiple outputs and delivered to their destination without a single line of code. For more complex workflows that require custom processing, users can now write their own scripts and have these scripts execute as part of their cloud workflow.
